hello! Im getting my baby male chinchilla (Bullet, very fast!) in a few days. I actually have a question about cage placement. I could either put him under the window, where it gets abit drafty when the windows open, or on the opposit side of the room where it can get abit warm in the summer. Which is best? Thanks, its just hes my first chin n i would never want to do anything to hurt him. Please reply ASAP, Thanks.

My son brought me a home a chinchilla yesterday for my birthday. I'am very exited about having him or her. But leary I had one before and we were getting carpet shampood it was 7 in the morning and I put all my pets out side. it seemed really cool. But by the time I noticed my chinchila couldent stand. I worked hard to save him. But lost him. I dont want to make any mistakes with this one so I,m trying to read and do a lot of research. I was panicking last night becouse My son had the air on and I was afraid he may be to cold. According to what I read that tempreature was just right. I learned a lot reading your site thank you for putting it together. Now if I can only get him to trust me. My son bought him from a pet store and they sont know much about Chinchillas so he is quite skiddish. I cannot wait for the day thta he trust me and learns to love me.

Hi there Barbera, I have great news! My friends brother works with this girl; She is sadly moving away to Florida and she cant take her two chinchillas with her. She asked my friends brother to take them and he is!!!! My friend is like Hopper and Troopers aunt so Hopper and Trooper are getting baby cousins! my friend said the chinchillas tales hasnt fully grown yet. Luckily, they are both boys so they can have playdates. My friend is naming one of them, she is naming him Jason (about the name, its a long story short) But Im not sure what her brother is naming the other one. oh yea, be on a look-out for her. chat with you later!

Dear Barbera, I changed my e-mail because my other one isnt working. Hopper and Trooper are doing well. do you remember when I told you I went to my old preschool with the chinnies and told the kids about chinchillas and how/where they lived and ate in the wild? Well, this year I was thinking of surprising my two cousins by showing up at their school witht the chinchillas without telling them, what do you think about that? Hopper, Trooper, and I miss talking to you!

i do not have a chinchilla as yet but an working on my husband. someone i know has one that they want to pass onto someone who can give it more time. it hasn't been handled too much and i was wandering if i would be able to tame it again. i am unaware of how old it is at the moment.
thanks if any one can give me any tips and advice. i have two small children 4 & 6 who i think would love one as well.

I really love chinchillas and i also love this site. Even though we had to give up my chinchillas, they were taken by my friend and i visit them regularly. I got a lot of info on chinchillas off this site. Thanks for the gr8 webby
