Comments: Hi! Im doing a piece of coursework on chinchillas at the moment and this site has been really useful. My own chinchilla, Charlie, died just after new year and I still haven't got over it. He was only 2 years old and I miss him. He was such a little character!

Admin reply: Thank you for signing the guest book. Chins make quite a variety of noises and some are more vocal than others.
The barking sound is often a warning call. He may have heard a strange noise outside or feels a little insecure. Check that he is ok and and give him some extra attention to reassure him all is well - which I am sure you do.
